The aim of the CD-Medics project is to concentrate a whole bunch of different functions into a portable device.
Fingerprick blood of a putative patient will be loaded at the point of care onto a disposable chip. There, biomarkers will be released, fractionated, purified, and analysed in a panel of different molecular biological as well as immunological tests. All these processes are controlled and driven by an instrument that will transfer the edited and enciphered analysis data to a data bank.

During the whole duration of the project, two topics will be extremely important:
1) to know the real requirements and requests of the end-user and
2) to harmonize understanding and work of the consortial partners coming from quite different fields of expertise.
As a consequence, work package 1 was installed in order to meet these needs. WP1 will be the forum – or pinboard – for communication, meetings, and iterative exchange of information and ideas, discussions, and reporting on decisions, thereby avoiding futile activities as well as construction of inappropriate interfaces.
