I use experimental and computational techniques in fluid and solid mechanics to study all types of bluff body wakes and fluid-structure interations.

  • Flow-induced vibrations with emphasis in vortex-induced vibrations (VIV).

  • Bluff body flows and vortex flows.

  • Experimental methods in fluid and solid mechanics; data analysis techniques.

  • Loading on offshore/marine structures. Cable dynamics.

  • Optical measurement techniques: DPIV and DDPIV.

  • Physics of sports.

  • Fluid dynamics of swimming and flying. Bio-inspired design.

  • Dynamics of floating offshore wind turbines.
