Research areas

• Supply Chain Management: Our aim in the area of Supply Chain Management is to develop a systematic mathematical programming framework for the strategic optimization of chemical supply chains considering different criteria and applying risk management tools to handle the variability associated with several sources of uncertainty.
• Uncertainty and Risk Management, Life Cycle Assessment and Multi-objective optimization: The major thrusts in our work are (1) to integrate the specific knowledge of different areas (Risk Management, Uncertainty analysis, LCA) within a single modelling and solution framework ; (2) to improve superstructure representations at different levels of abstraction and (3) to develop effective solution strategies to handle these problems based on MINLP, MILP and NLP techniques that are coupled with multi-objective optimization tools in order to account for different conflictive criteria.
